Sara M. Day, MA, LMHCA

Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate
(425) 329-4464 connect@seattlechristiancounseling.com

Healing and growth often begin with feeling seen, heard, and understood. I enjoy helping clients connect what we discuss in counseling to their everyday lives, relationships, habits, faith, and personal goals. Together, we will identify practical steps that feel realistic and meaningful while exploring any obstacles that may be getting in the way. My goal is to help you gain greater self-awareness and confidence so you can continue growing both inside and outside of the counseling room. It would be my privilege to walk alongside you as you explore your story, strengthen your relationship with God, and move toward healing, growth, and greater purpose.

About

I believe one of my greatest strengths as a counselor is my ability to combine empathy, curiosity, and a whole-person perspective. I genuinely enjoy getting to know my clients, hearing their stories, and gaining a deeper understanding of how the different areas of their lives may be connected. I look at the bigger picture rather than just symptoms, including relationships, physical health, environment, faith, personal experiences, and the unique strengths each client brings. Clients who appreciate a thoughtful, compassionate, and faith-centered approach often connect well with my counseling style.

My Goal as a Christian Counselor

My hope is that you leave counseling with a deeper understanding of yourself, your relationships, and God’s presence filling your life. I want you to feel seen, heard, understood, and supported as you navigate life’s challenges and difficult seasons. Through our work together, I hope you gain greater self-awareness, discover your strengths, find meaning and purpose in your experiences, and grow in confidence as you move toward healing, healthier relationships, and a deeper love and connection with God.

What I Offer in Christian Counseling

I take a whole-person approach to counseling, recognizing that emotional well-being is often influenced by many areas of life. Together, we may explore factors such as physical health, relationships, environment, lifestyle habits, stress levels, faith, and personal experiences to better understand the challenges you are facing. I enjoy helping clients connect the dots between different areas of their lives, recognize patterns, identify strengths, and develop practical and meaningful steps toward lasting change. As a Christian counselor, I also believe spiritual growth is an important part of the healing process as clients grow closer to God and deepen their understanding of His purpose for their lives.

My Approach to Christian Counseling

My approach to Christian counseling is centered on meeting clients where they are in their faith journey while helping them grow in ways that are consistent with their values and biblical truth. I believe counseling provides a unique opportunity to explore life’s challenges through both a clinical and faith-based lens. For clients who desire it, I welcome prayer, Scripture, and discussions about their relationship with God as part of the counseling process. I enjoy walking alongside fellow believers as they seek God’s wisdom, healing, growth, and a deeper connection with the Lord through life’s difficult seasons.

Biography

Qualifications & Experience

I hold a BA in Psychology with a Minor in Biblical and Theological Studies and an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, both from Northwest University.

I have been walking alongside and supporting individuals through ministry, outreach, mentoring, and faith-based support roles for many years. Through nearly a decade of street ministry, I worked with individuals facing trauma, addiction, grief, homelessness, and other life challenges.

My Call to Christian Counseling

For many years, my husband and I were involved in street ministry and outreach work, where I spent time listening to and supporting individuals facing addiction, trauma, homelessness, grief, hopelessness, and other life challenges. Those years deeply shaped my heart and compassion for the broken and lowly and helped me realize how much I value simply being present with others in their most vulnerable moments, just like Jesus has been with me in mine.

One Scripture that has truly spoken to me through the Holy Spirit for my calling is Proverbs 11:25, “Whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” That verse became deeply personal to me in 2021 and played a major role in my decision to become a counselor. I realized that helping others heal, grow, and rediscover hope was something I care deeply about and something that I feel truly aligned with who God has called me to be. God met me in some of the darkest times of my life, and because of that, I am not afraid to sit with others in theirs. In fact, I welcome it. I feel honored to sit with others in the sacred counseling space where the Holy Spirit directs healing and growth, and where hope can begin to emerge. After all, He is the Wonderful Counselor who guides us in the ways we should go (Psalm 32:8).

More About Me/On a Personal Note

In my free time, I enjoy spending quality time with my husband and son, reading my Bible and spending time with the Lord, playing and learning a variety of musical instruments, being in nature, and playing and cuddling with my two cats. We have a wonderful son who is a musician as well and plans to become a music teacher someday. My husband and I love to go on day trips and ride our e-bikes on long, scenic trails like the Centennial Trail. I also love arts and crafts and plan to make jewelry and try other things like painting and diamond art for self-care.

Spiritual Development

Many people go through seasons where they feel distant from God, struggle to hear His voice, or feel uncertain about His direction. I enjoy helping clients explore these experiences while encouraging spiritual growth, reflection, prayer, and a deeper connection with Him. Counseling for spiritual development may include strengthening your relationship with God, deepening your understanding of Scripture, exploring spiritual questions, or growing in your ability to recognize God’s presence and guidance in your daily life.

Trauma/Abuse

Trauma can affect the way we see ourselves, others, our relationships, and our sense of safety in the world. Many people find themselves carrying the effects of difficult experiences long after the event has passed. Healing often begins with feeling safe, understood, and supported enough to explore those experiences at a pace that feels right for you. I enjoy helping clients better understand the impact of trauma, reconnect with their strengths, discover meaning within their story, and move toward healing and hope for the future.

Individual Counseling

I deeply value the one-on-one counseling relationship and the unique opportunity it provides for meaningful connection and growth. Individual counseling offers a supportive space to explore life’s challenges, process difficult experiences, and gain greater insight into yourself and your relationships. Through empathy, active listening, and a person-centered approach, I strive to create an environment where you feel seen, heard, understood, and free to be yourself without judgment. Some of the most meaningful moments in counseling occur when people begin to recognize their strengths, gain clarity, discover new possibilities, and move forward with greater confidence and a sense of purpose.

ADHD

ADHD can affect focus, organization, emotional regulation, motivation, relationships, confidence, and many other aspects of daily life. It often presents differently from person to person and can sometimes go unrecognized for years, particularly in women and individuals whose symptoms do not fit common stereotypes. I enjoy helping clients better understand how their brains work, recognize their strengths, reduce self-criticism, and develop practical tools that support success in everyday life. I strive to create an engaging and supportive environment where clients can feel comfortable being themselves, whether that includes using fidgets, movement, creativity, visual tools, or other strategies that support focus and symptom management.

Grief and Loss

Grief and loss can come in many forms, including the death of a loved one, the anticipation of a loss, major life transitions, relationship endings, or changes that affect the future we once imagined. I enjoy creating a space where clients can openly share their stories, memories, emotions, and experiences without feeling rushed or judged. Many people simply need someone who is willing to sit with them in their grief and listen.

Through reflection, storytelling, and meaningful conversation, I help clients honor the people and relationships that have shaped their lives while navigating the challenges of loss. Some of the most healing moments can come from remembering cherished memories, sharing meaningful stories, and exploring the lasting impact a loved one has had on our lives.
