Sexual addiction requires specific forms of treatment that can be very different than those dealing with other forms of addiction. When treating other addictions such as those related to drugs and alcohol, you can create a measure of distance between yourself and the source of addiction. With sexual addiction, however, the “problem” is always with you, and you are not expected to completely stop all related behaviors. In fact, healthy sexual activity is encouraged; it’s the harmful, compulsive, and unethical sexual acts that are overcome. The goals of Christian sexual addiction counseling is to help you build healthy habits, maintain personal responsibility, heal wounds, and repair damaged relationships.
