10 Reasons Why a Christian Life Coach is Worth the Investment
Tacoma Christian Counselor
Thinking about working with a Christian life coach? Here’s my story. A few years ago, I felt stuck. Lost. Lifeless. Although it looked like I had everything I wanted on the outside, I was struggling on the inside.
I knew I needed help, but pressing the “send payment” button felt immobilizing. Would this Christian life coach really help me overcome my struggles and fears? Would he really give me the tools I needed to succeed? Would he really help me achieve my dream? Would this whole thing really be worth the investment?Looking back from where I was to where I am now, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve thought, “This Christian life coach is the best investment I’ve ever made!” (besides buying our house).
I don’t feel stuck anymore. I have the assurance of my unique purpose in life. I am passionately and successfully pursuing the dreams God has placed on my heart to pursue. And my relationships are thriving in the process! All because I took the risk and hired someone to help.
10 Reasons to Hire a Christian Life Coach
Let me give you 10 reasons why hiring a professional Christian life coach is worth the investment:
1. Gain Clarity and Focus
Our American culture is more distracted now than ever. Smartphones, although helpful to streamline our thoughts, actions, and goals, can also work to derail us. If we don’t take proper measures to discipline ourselves to focus on what’s most important, we will continue to live frustrated, stressed, and overwhelmed.
Having clarity and focus does not come naturally to many, and coaching can help. I use dream-mapping, goal-setting, and focus-planning tools with my clients in order to achieve clarity and produce laser focus. This helps my clients improve what they want to improve or accomplish what they want to accomplish in life. For me, this often looks like putting the phone away so I’m not distracted from doing what I want to be doing, which is: checking off an item on my to-do list, reading my Bible, reviewing my goals, or even playing with my children, just to name a few. As a coach, I help bring clarity and focus to set men up for success in all areas of life.
2. Receive Accountability
The American Society of Training and Development (ASTD) did a study on accountability and found that when you have a specific accountability appointment with a person you’ve committed to, you are 95% more likely to achieve that goal.
That’s significant! Compare this Harvard study that states only 8% of all people make goals and commit to them. This proves that having accountability, especially through someone like a trained coach, will increase your odds significantly of achieving what you want to accomplish in life.
3. See Quicker Results
Life coaches help you set goals more effectively and then stick with them. Therefore, you’re not only more likely to achieve results but at a quicker pace than if you were to go at it on your own. They see your blind spots, strategize a plan of action, and provide useful tools to help you achieve personal and occupational success. Their expertise can help show you what works and what doesn’t so you’re not wasting valuable time trying to figure it out on your own.
4. Get Honest, Constructive Feedback
Coaches have one goal in mind: coach you to a successful outcome. Sometimes this requires honest and upfront feedback if we see areas of your life that are hindering your success. If I see spinach in your teeth before a big job interview, I’m going to tell you so you don’t humiliate yourself and possibly prevent your chances of getting the job.Remember, your coach is rooting for your success because your success is directly correlated to their success as your coach! So, listen to your coach as they truly do have your best interest in mind.
5. Focus on Your Strengths
I read a book called Now, Discover Your Strengths which completely changed my thinking when it comes to looking at strengths and weaknesses to our character. We tend to focus on our weaknesses and trying to make those stronger. But instead, why not focus on your strengths to make those shine higher among the crowd!
It’s more fulfilling and apt to reward you more if you focus on strengthening the areas of your life you are naturally good at. But perhaps you’re thinking, “Noel, I’m not really good at anything.” Yes, you are, and I can help with that.
I used the Gallup Strength Finders tool to discover my top five strengths and then I worked on cultivating those strengths in all areas of my life. I believe greater momentum and increased motivation will result when you focus on your strengths, rather than your weaknesses.
6. Overcome Obstacles
A blind person relies on others to help them navigate through life without bumping into things along the way. In the same way, coaches are trained to help you navigate around potential obstacles or barriers that would prevent you from moving toward your goals.
Perhaps you even feel like there’s no other way around an obstacle you’re facing? I guarantee a strong Christian life coach can help you discover a new way around those obstacles and more.
7. Strengthen Your Relationships with Others
A few years ago, I didn’t even feel like I had the bandwidth in my schedule to make time for coaching. Not to mention, I was afraid the time spent away from my family doing my coaching program would negatively impact my relationships as I spent less time with them. I couldn’t have been more wrong.
Coaching has helped me re-prioritize my life for the better, lessen stress, ignite my passion, and love my family better – all things that have added value to my relationships even though I’m spending less time with them overall. I’m happier and healthier in mind, body, and soul, which positively impacts those around me. I guarantee that investing in a life coaching program will do the same for you.
8. Love Your Life Again
Are you struggling right now to enjoy the life you have? Do you feel guilty because you feel like you should love your life, but you don’t? Coaching will help you with that. I can help you hone-in and re-discover what you love, then actually strategize ways to make time for those things in your schedule. Because life should feel fulfilling, not draining or depressing. Let’s change that perspective so you’ll love your life again.
9. Achieve Your Dreams
Have a dream on your heart you have no idea how to achieve it? This is what I love to do most – help people discover what truly makes them tick, propel them toward a dream that uniquely fits, and map out the best path and plan to achieve it. A few years ago, I thought I would never be able to transition from my dead-end state job to having a thriving private practice. Then, through coaching, I began to believe in this idea and gain confidence in my own potential. After completing my coaching program, the following month I passed my board exam to be a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. Six months after that, I received my license and then got my business license to operate as a mental health service provider. Now I have a thriving private practice and fulfilling my dream as a Professional Counselor.
10. Learn Tools for a Lifetime of Success
Most people think success automatically means financial success. But really, the definition of success is “an accomplishment of an aim or purpose.”
Do you want to understand your unique purpose? Do you want to have a deeper spiritual life with God? Do you want to have better relationships with your family and children? Do you want to love your life again? Do you want to have a career, vocation, or occupation you enjoy that also provides financially?
Depending on your coach, the success tools they give you will apply forever. Hiring a coach doesn’t only help you through a season of life. The tools and skills you learn, as well as the depth of self-reflection and personal growth you gain, provide lifelong value, which is why hiring a Christian life coach is worth the investment. No. Matter. What.
