About
I have been trained in many therapeutic techniques, but I have found that listening is the most important tool for healing. We all have stories that need to be communicated, and through this interaction of telling and listening, we are able to experience growth, recovery, and restoration. The pain we feel in our hearts and minds can be just as painful as the physical. We treat the physical with physical methods, but psychological, cognitive, and spiritual pain and challenges are overcome through interaction and the love of God. Through Christian counseling, you can experience the healing you desire.
My Goal as a Christian Counselor
As a Christian counselor with a faith-based background, I use a holistic approach to counseling. As human beings we are more than just physical beings – we are comprised of mind, body, and spirit, with all parts needing to be nourished and attended to as a whole. It is my hope that through our sessions together you will be able to understand what causes your pain, how it came about, and how to deal with it through different skills and tools learned in counseling.
What I Offer in Christian Counseling
As your counselor, I offer an interactive process in which your needs are my top priority during our sessions. Once your chief concerns are determined, together we will set goals for your treatment with your input and approval. Each session will start with a review of the last sessions, review of any assigned tasks, then discussion of new events, thoughts, and concerns. Goals will be reviewed and can be changed as needed.
My Approach to Christian Counseling
Modern science attempts to use reason and logic to fix every aspect of our lives, but we can be emotional and irrational at times. Life is not always simple, and human beings are complex, requiring a holistic approach to counseling which includes the mind, body, and spirit – mind based on logic and reason, body with food and modern medicine, and spirit through faith and activities that nourish our artistic, emotional side. As a chaplain as well as a counselor, I have learned the one size does not fit all. As a result, I will be open to your individual needs in counseling and cater our sessions accordingly.
